MUSICIAN
OVERVIEW
Megan started taking piano lessons when she was six years old. Two years later, she asked her parents if she could start learning guitar, thinking that it would get her out of piano lessons. They agreed, but they kept her in both. By the time she was ten, she was taking bass guitar lessons. At eleven, it was drums. Megan started a family band with her older stepsister playing bass guitar and her younger stepbrother playing drums. They were called The New Lexicon, and although they were not a band for long, this was the birth of Megan's singing career. When Megan was sixteen, she started to play solo gigs at local bars, cafes, country clubs, and restaurants to raise money for college. Now at eighteen years old and having completed her first year of college at Michigan Tech, she was able to cover her tuition payments all on her own.

KALAMAZOO ACADEMY OF ROCK
The Kalamazoo Academy of Rock is a great way to gain experience playing in a band. KAR bands rehearse weekly to prepare for gigs and experience recording in a studio. Megan had the privilege of playing with the Wednesday Night Band for two sessions, and rocked at The Wild Bull Saloon and Bell's Brewery at the end of each. KAR was a great experience and She had a lot of fun playing with musicians her age.
