STUDENT
OVERVIEW
Megan likes to be challenged, and it was evident to her early on that high school was not going to provide that challenge. She took her first college level course when she was fifteen, and from there, she dove into the world of post secondary education. Because of the incredible cooperation between Mendon High School and Glen Oaks Community College, Megan was able to graduate with an Associate's Degree a month before she graduated from high school. Megan was the youngest Glen Oaks graduate of 2018 at only seventeen years old, and the only one that was still in high school.
With over sixty college credits under her belt, Megan packed her bags and headed up to Michigan Technological University to pursue not one, but two majors. By 2023 she expects to have three degrees to her name: an Associate of General Studies, a Bachelor of Engineering Management, and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering.

ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT (BS)
Expected May, 2022

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS
MIND TREKKERS
Mind Trekkers is a Michigan Tech STEM outreach program that strives to spark passion for science, technology, engineering, and math in the hearts of K-12 students all across the country. Through interactive science demonstrations, Mind Trekkers is able to create wonder and enthusiasm for the sciences in both kids and their families.

Mind Trekkers
November 20, 2019
This Wednesday, I picked up the morning shift at this local event. Though it wasn't a full day of trekking, I still had a great time getting kids excited about STEM. For the entirety of the morning, I was in charge of the Thermal Imaging demonstration, in which kids learn the practical applications of taking pictures with hear instead of light. Over the course of my shift, I got the children to play numerous games revolving around guessing temperatures of objects and the opaqueness of certain materials in real life vs in thermal imaging. Both the kids and I had a blast doing this demo. Check out this news segment by TV6 News for more info!

Mind Trekkers
February 13-15, 2019
I had a fantastic time this weekend at the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College! Over the course of two days, I was able to run three different demonstrations. Lasers and Prisms teaches kids about the properties of light by challenging them to complete a series of light puzzles using only the prisms presented at the table. Fingerprint Balloon (pictured above) allows kids to better visualize the unique patterns on their fingertips and how they are related to forensic sciences. Lastly Liquid Sand teaches the different properties of solids, liquids, and gases, and how to manipulate a solid like sand particles to behave like water.

Mind Trekkers
Sep. 20-22, 2018
I had so much fun this weekend with Mind Trekkers! As my first official trip with the organization, I can definitely say it exceeded my expectations. We were able to reach an estimated 4000 K-12 students and their families, and hopefully we inspired them to look deeper into the world of STEM! This weekend I manned the demos "Flinker" in which students try to construct an object with neutral buoyancy (It doesn't float, it doesn't sink... it flinks!), and the Plasma Ball/Tesla Coil station, in which they learn about electric fields and electricity itself! I can't wait for my next trip!
THE SOCIETY FOR TECHNICAL COMMUNICATORS: STUDENT CHAPTER
The Society for Technical Communicators: Student Chapter at Michigan Tech works hard to give meaningful experiences and opportunities to students with an STC major or those who are hoping to learn more about communicating in a professional environment. Its parent organization is the Society for Technical Communicators, which has chapters such as the Michigan Great Lakes chapter (STC-MGL).

Within the STC org, Megan has the title of "Poster Child" where she creates graphic design elements and promotional materials for upcoming events. Below are some of her designs.
